”SPEAKESY”

A speakeasy, in its strict definition, is a place where alcoholic beverages are illegally sold, particularly during the prohibition era. A modern speakeasy, however, does not require illegality and instead it refers to a bar that still has the ‘ hidden’ quality under the radar.

SpeakEasySki is separate association with illegal alcohol but more of the feeling that occurs of doing something unknown. Like entering a underground bar for your eyes and ears only is SpeakEasySki the same. Hence the name,

SpeakEasySki is an illegally exclusive skiing  experience - and should be kept as a secret!

Who are we?

Being a group of friends and founders who love the outdoors, Lofoten and the thrill its giving us individualy is the key of SpeakeasySki existing and it keeps on giving us some fantastic opportunities.

Petter Westgaard grew up with Lofoten as his playground as his hometown is Narvik. Petter spent all his free time walking to the ski resort that was situated right next to his house. Later on he started venturing out from the ski resort and this made him a strong an passionate skier that laid the foundation for his excessive interest in skiing. Fast forward a few years and he ended up traveling all around the world skiing, made some ski movies and then ended up as a Nortind Ski guide.

When skiing is not the chosen nature activity, there are plenty of other activities that take up time: kayaking, glacier tours, climbing tours, and hiking are mentioned in the same breath. Petter is also certified as a kayak instructor, trough the Norwegian Pagling Association (NPF).

With Petter, the total experience is the focus when he guides. He occasionally refers to the pyramid of experiences from Finland when it comes to landing meaningful experiences.

Safety, good snow with breathtaking views and group dynamics is three things Petter likes to focus on in the mountain.

Jamie Milne is an savvy Yorkshire man.  We all know Yorkshire was founded by the Vikings, so Jamie have founded a home in Lofoten. When the Captain is away from his newfound home in Lofoten, he is our  Captain on Her Majestys ship Gassten. With a steady hand he make sure everything is top notch on the minesweeper.

With years of experience from yatching in the Mediterranean and

expedition-sailing in Svalbard and Greenland, this is a perfect combination when nibbling around the Lofoten islands searching for the gems needed to have a great time on shore and in the mountains.

Jamie is also a vivid skier and an outdoor entusiast, it’s not unlikely that he will tag along for a mountainous stroll in the mountains with us if the weather alows it.

Mathilde Sætre spent five years as General Manager at Tobiasbrygga in Henningsvær, where she led operations, guest experience, logistics, marketing and staff with a steady hand — and plenty of warmth. She recently chose to step away to follow her own path.

Today, she works independently as Senior Project Lead on high-end hospitality projects across the region, and leads production for tailored experiences both at sea and on land.

Mathilde has always breathed easily in nature. Lofoten is not just where she lives — it’s her landscape, her rhythm. She has found deep joy in ski touring through these islands, and she loves sharing the mountains, coastlines and quiet corners of her own backyard throughout the year.

She carries a genuine passion for creating meaningful guest connections and carefully curated moments — the kind that stay with you. Her knowledge of the Lofoten coastline, community and rhythm is instinctive, and she has an effortless way of making people feel both grounded and inspired.

She studied Marketing and Leadership, including time spent living in Melbourne, absorbing international perspective and pace.

Now, Mathilde stands fully in her own role — crafting experiences that feel personal, honest, and quietly extraordinary.
